Building work begins on our new home
16 November 2010
Last week the scaffolding went up outside our soon-to-be new home, swiftly followed by an extraordinary facsimile of the building hung on the scaffold. It reminded me of the fake wood venires that constitute a printed photograph of wood that are themselves often pasted on top of wood, all be it of a less desirable character –MDF for example. It made me think about our need for fake materials and finishes and in what circumstances photos of materials stand in for the materials or objects themselves. Anyway, it’s exciting to see real works taking place, to get our hand on the floor plans and start to plan how we will fit out the space. I will keep you posted on how things progress.
