Digital logic was never meant to be used to make music, so that's exactly what Jakub Zalesak is going to teach us to do. In the process, we'll walk through the steps of designing a Printed Circuit Board. Learn how to solder, explore the niche world of logic synthesisers from triangles and squares to the nasal sound of oscillator sync, and consider the nature of sound and electricity. You will leave with a synth to impress (or annoy) your friends.
A physics student, Jakub Zalesak come from a family of makers and currently run workshops for the UCL division of Engineers Without Borders. He became enchanted by electronics while repairing a set of headphones at 13 years of age and has carried a love for electronics with him ever since. Jakub loves breaking complex things down and assembling them differently, and believes that hardware shoud be open-source.
This workshop is part of the Festival of Stuff.
